Can we drink too much?

Drinking too much during physical effort can be fatal! The reason for this is that the kidneys can not discharge surplus water while exercising. This results in an excess water flow to the brain cells which can harm them.


Therefore, athletes, (marathon) runners and cyclists should estimate how much water they lose throughout the physical exercise by weighting their body weight before and after. If they weight more after the exercise than they have drunk to much!
